Been ages since I've visited the forum but some progress has been made with Windchaser's ongoing renovations. The cockpit has taken a lot more work than I originally expected. Problems included: some water seeping up from the floor around the rudder post when I stood close to the rudder post, crack in the side of the cockpit below the locker lid, various old drilled holes, unpainted repair area getting sun-damage, cracks at the back of the outboard well, 2 big holes covered with duc tape, cracks on the seat surface which when explored actually go into the wood core, frame around companionway needing fixing.
I had put a new latch on the locker and started filling in some old holes but more needing doing, including repairing the big crack on the left side of the pic.
The floor and its sides got the first makeover. The section I had removed and replaced from around the rudder post matched in nicely. Sections around the well had been fibreglassed then faired while other bits just got filled and faired. The paint is two pack.
Finally, the tops of the seats were repaired, where needed, and painted. Still more to get done but even to this point a huge amount of work, mostly careful preparation, has been achieved. Oh yes, doing the seats after doing the floor, and in a lighter colour, provided opportunity for me to make spots on the floor. : ( How do those dang drips happen? Anyway, easy to fix later on with a quick sand and touch up.
