Hi Guys ,

A thought came to mind over the last few days In regard to Mk1 chrome ( or S/S ) window surrounds , I have noticed on some Mk1s for sale on boatpoint in the past , and other places . Are these surrounds available still ??

All the best ,

Brad,

An original Mk1 has the windows inside and bolted through. As in Seaka's below.
Here you can see the forward one still in place while the stern window is being replaced.

That is not to say that some have been fitted with framed windows later on.

Hi Phillip ,

Thanks for attaching the picture of Mk1 window surrounds , and clearing the matter up in regard to manufactured specification . As I done a lot of Web Surfing into Mk1s before coming a custodian of one of these beautiful time capsules , I have photos of least one Mk1 that has chrome window surrounds ( somewhere ) , though it must be the case that some owners decided to make this beautiful old lady of the sea , even more desirable !!!

Hard to believe they would use chrome because there is just too much salt water exposure. Much more likely to be stainless or aluminium. Windows in my Mk11 are through bolted but sit on the outside of the cabin sides.

Hi Storm Petrel ,

May be i should have worded this thread more carefully , as you obviously can't tell from a picture what material is used , probably is Stainless Steel .....

It would be interesting to find out if there is a company that manufactures the external window frames in question .
