Been sealing some of the deck fittings on Windchaser. I removed the stanchion bases (most of them) as they were looking in need of restoring.
I sanded them, then epoxied and painted with 2-pack. I used Aquacote as I can mix a little up easily and any left over can go back in the tin. Also it is water clean up if done before it goes off so if I am quick I can re-use the brush a few times no problems. Sets hard but not a high gloss, which is okay.
When I lifted off the wood base plates, I could see where water had been leaking underneath and the extra holes didn't help with keeping the inside dry. This pic was taken before I cleaned off the sealant so you can see there was not much sealant at all.
