The gooseneck on Night Cap was broken. Got a new one from Sheerline in Sydney for $159. Phone 9938 4722 or 0418 222 731. The part that rivets (4 rivets) onto the mast is rectangular (longer dimension vertically oriented) has a pin set into it (vertically) and the part the goes onto the boom swivels around the pin. The top of the pin where it extends above the body of the part fixed to the mast has a hole drilled through it for attachment of the mainsail tack. Sheerline drilled this hole out and it is still to small for the d-shackle we used to use for attaching the tack of the mainsail. A long shackle is needed and the only ones long enough would require us to drill the hole out further, which I an reluctant to do. So currently using 2 d-shackles, which is not ideal. The goose neck has a round metal shaft that goes into boom. There is a nylon type bush that sits over the shaft ($12 from Sheerline).

I did not need to buy the part that goes into the boom, So your cost will he higher. Assume your boom has the same attachment method.
Hope this helps . Cheers, John

I also bought a replacement gooseneck and boom fitting from Sheerline a few years ago too.

The boom fitting is available in plastic or aluminium (the one John described) with a plastic bush.

The alumimium one is more expensive but you can replace the bush when it wears.

Might pay to consider your reefing setup as Sheerline could weld hooks on the top of the pivot pin if you want.

I found them very helpful.

Cheers,

Tom
