Just put the rudder back on Windchaser. Helping a guy fix his boat on the slip and when he went back in the water, he helped me get Windchaser up for a half hour to fit the rudder.
The rudder has been epoxy coated (several layers) all over but especially the edges. Then it was covered with dynel cloth, built up with quite a few layers of fairing compound and coated with four coats of epoxy. Finally undercoated and antifouled. Should be ok.
Sanding with the fairing took forever. I used a long metal ruler to mark where the rudder touched the ruler and so cross hatching showed me where the higher spots were for sanding.
Nicely coated with antifoul and ready to go back on.
