Finally a tender for Windchaser

Finally a tender for Windchaser

I have been borrowing a tender from a guy at the boat club but have been on the lookout for something reasonable for about 6 months. I decided to go for a small tinny rather than inflatable or use my kayak especilly after taking this picture in the city area.

Finally found an old 11 footer on reasonable trailer.

Trailer needed some work and I underestimated how long it would take.

Took the whole trailer apart, including the axel off and bearings out.

Then after fixing and replacing and re-painting stuff, I had to put it back together so it would work.

Looks good. What you can't see is that after brushing on a coat of paint, a big gust of wind came over and blossoms from the neighbour's tree covered the damp paint. But it cleaned up okay.

There there was the problem with re-registering the trailer. The VIN on the old records was out by one number according to the plate on the trailer. So, another week goes by while the Dep of Trans works out what to do.

Finally, after weeks from buying the trailer and dinghy to now, I took her out on the water.

Even visited Windchaser, which made me a happy chap. So now I can more easily get out to Windchaser to do repairs and I have a suitable solid dinghy to take with me when I go down the river. Even though at 11 foot, my dinghy is smaller than some of the crocs, I feel much more secure than if in my kayak.
