Seriously, a pro welder would of taken 10 mins to weld this together, I fumbled around for a few hours, I knew their was 'a trick of the trade' to make welding Gal easier but I couldnt remember it , Does it (grinding off the Gal) work also on Duragal pipe, or only Hot Dipped Gal?

The welders remedy for those Flu/feeling crook like symptons is to drink milk, I was a labourer for a crew of pro welders for a while (welding = hardest trade there is, imo), amazing what they can do with steel!
Just found out there is specific welding rods for stainless steel too...!

I feel I've been teaching a parson how to pray if you've worked for a team of welders.
Grinding off the duragal is still important. Any gal will affect the arc. There are special rods for Stainless and I believe there are rods for Cast iron.
Yes it looks hard and hot. They said that if you are not in the mood to weld don;t push it, do something else. Not really a good business decision I'm sure. I'm really greatful for grinders, cut it off and start again.
I don;t think I'd ever start a steel boat building project.

Now Shaun, how about a Top Hat Mk 4 in STEEL !!! That would be a force to contend with. And the gunwhales would be .....
