Just starting this thread off and hopefully Phil will keep it up to date. I'm due to shove off from NT on Sunday and will head across to the Kimberly's where I believe I'll have no coverage. I have enough stores to last me a month, about 100lt of water but I'm told there is water available in the Kimberly's and I've loaded about 80lt of fuel which although I don't want to use may have no choice as tidal flow through the area is huge. I'll send position reports through to FB while I'm out of range.
Let's hope we get through okay.
cheers
Rob

Rob,

Can you give us some idea of the possible anchorages you will try for?

At 2100 hours on Sunday 31st August Rob was 50 nm from Darwin with 200 nm to go to reach the Kimberly's.

His comment was NO WIND!

Just seen a report from New Views, a cat just ahead of Rob enroute to Darwin at 13' 4.64S 128' 41E and they said:

New Views :
2014 09 01 - 0006 hrs - About mid way across the gulf.
We got hammered earlier today for about 6 hours with 17 kts easterly and about 2m seas.
Slight tailwind and smooth now. Will be in Darwin Tuesday morning.

I reckon Rob had some fast sailing with the easterly as it was going his way!
