Thanking Lovett Bay Boatshed

Hi Guys / Gals ,

Just spent a relaxing few days onboard our Mk1 , before starting back at work on Monday . My two youngest children enjoyed The Lake at The Basin , which we motored across to by a Tinny from our mooring many times , kindly loaned from Michael Rich ( Nice Guy ) , at Lovett Bay Boatshed . So I take this opportunity to publicly Thank Michael , and his sons for being kindhearted Souls !!!!

Hi Brad, sounds like you and the kids had an awesome time. I googled Lovett Bay Boatshed as I have no idea about the area. Looks fantastic.

I am envious of what looks like clearish water and deep channels, my river is mud with lots of shallow. On the other hand, McCarrs Creek and a few other places look like wall-to-wall moored boats. If all those boat owners decided one day to use their boats then I imagine the mother-of-all traffic jams.

Seeing the pic of ya kids on the water brought back memories when I was about that age in little boats (including a canoe made out of a corrugated iron sheet (not a good boat at all) and how much I enjoyed boats and water. I especially learned how to have fun and stay safe as water can be tricky stuff (the corrugated iron canoe with holes blocked with chewing gum did not survive its maiden voyage, way too unsafe). I am sure your kids will have great memories of their time with you mucking about on the water.

I think if you have had an early involvement with boats , such as we both have had , they become a life long passion that is rewarding in so many ways . Hotted Up Cars hold no interest for me , nothing beats owning such a beautiful watercraft as a TH1-3 .


The Tender that was borrowed from Lovett Bay Boatshed created a fair amount of pulling weight , with strengthening winds of Friday Afternoon around Broken Bay , the power of my Mk1 was awesome , which while towing the Tender , I reckoned it to be like " Driving A Truck , With One Foot On The Breaks " which I feel I may not have had the maturity for as a young boater !!!

I had a keen interest in such Sailboats as Top Hats in my late teens ( 1990ish ) , when I use to buy Trade A Boat ( 25k Market Value for a Mk1 , if I recall correctly ?? ) , and dream away . Although I was deeply involved with Waterskiing at the time , I invisaged Sailboat Cruising as an enriching past time . Now with my young family involved , life does not get better then Sailing as a family , especially on a Top Hat Sailboat .
