hi guys and gals !
New to this site. Great to meet y'all.
We have a Mark 2 Top Hat.
We transported it up to Port Stephens from Pittwater via the F3.
Accidentally whilst waiting to step the mast ... there was an almighty storm
- and the mast fell of the top deck into the 'drink'.
We lost the mast head light.
Been trying to locate a masthead light. (base recessed to allow electrics_)
Can't locate a new one... but thought there may be one out there !
chrz
Jenni

Hi Jenni, welcome!

The mast head light is pretty standard. Either a tri color or all around white light. Depending on what you want.

Whitworths have a couple of sizes if both for just a few dollars and you order on line of you can't get to a store.

Hi Jenni,
I hope that you have your mast head light by now.
I am really interested in the details of how you trucked your boat up to Port Stephens - who did it and the cost and the process at either end etc.
I would appreciate any feedback
thanks
Olly

Olly,

If you need to transport your TH to Pt Stpehens, and it's seaworthy, it's only about 70 nautical miles, with Lake Macquarie and Newcastle for havens in bad weather on the way.

With one or two crew, you could sail it over a long day or overnight. I'd be happy to help if you need it.

Hi Miker,
thanks for your reply and offer of help.
My TH is in Middle Harbour Sydney and I need to get it to Grafton.
She is sea worthy but I would need to outlay for many things required to go ocean sailing and also organise crew who are more experienced than me.
Just trying to find some info on trucking verses sailing re cost and organisation/time.
Will post some questions in the general section and see if I can get some feedback
Thanks
Olly

hi Olly

I ended up using Porta Slip to take Egret II from Middle Harbour to Lake Mac 3 years ago and I think it cost $800 . I'm sure Porta Slip does the eastern seaboard of N.S.W, very friendly bloke .

cheers Bear

Hi Bear,
Just emailed Porta Slip for some info.
Can you tell me in more detail of your 'excursion' via road.
Did you take the mast down yourself ?
What Middle Harbour marina did you use and what did they charge for the loading time etc?
What else did you have to remove?
Did you get a rigging person to replace mast / cost?
Anything else that you can fill me in on would be great.
Thanks
olly
