Top Hat 25 mk.0 For Sale

A new restoration project is forcing us to sell our Top Hat. This is a mid ‘60s cold-molded Mk.0 that my family has owned for 25 years. I think there are very few of these left, let alone one in such excellent condition. She is extremely well balanced and is an absolute joy to sail.
We believe the boat was built by Mouldcraft in Frankston, Victoria but do not know the exact year. It is very heavily rigged (for offshore sailing) and features the original twin spreader twin backstay Illingworth design.
We have done an immense amount of improvements to the boat including:
• Epoxy sheathed the hull
• Installed a Yanmar 1GM10 inboard diesel
• Changed the rudder from keel hung to skeg hung.
• Reinforced side deck and fairlead track.
• Strengthened deck beams in the fo’csle
• Replaced all grab rails and hatches with kauri equivalents
• Added a bridge deck across the cockpit
More recently the boat has received new:
• Stanchions and safety lines
• Raymarine ST40 depthsounder
• S/S 40L fuel tank
• New Boom with slab reefing system
• Sandblasted and resprayed mast.
• Forestay and lower shrouds (‘09)
• Mainsail sheet
• Mainsail cover & hatch cover
• Storm jib
• Four new keel bolts installed
• Lazy jacks
Sails
• 2 Mainsails (1 excellent condition, 1 fair)
• Storm Jib (never used)
• #1/working jib - fair condition
• #2 jib – good condition
• Genoa – good condition
• 2 Spinakers – very good condition
Also features:
• CQR type anchor (10m Chain, 50m warp)
• GME VHF
• Compass
• Fenders
• Metho Stove
• Head
• Boathook
• 2 winch handles
• Internal and external bilge pumps
• Flares
Will easily pass survey (note: there is no delaminating above or below the waterline on this boat. The epoxy sheathing has bonded extremely well)
Currently lying at Yaringa Marina, Somerville, Victoria (on Westernport).
