After considerable thought I have decided to put my beloved Top Hat, Storm Petrel, up for sale. Approaching retirement has prompted me to go halves with a good friend in a bigger boat so we can share the cost and upkeep and joy of sailing into our senior years. Details are on Yacht hub at:
http://yachthub.com/list/yachts-for-sal ... 11a/157314I would love to sell her someone on the site. PM me if interested.
Kind Regards to all,
Mark

If I cannot sell my Top Hat I will not be too disappointed as I will simply share the boat with my friend with whom I looking to form a partnership to get a bigger boat (if he manages to sell his 1950 timber yacht). Not sure what we will move to yet but we are considering boats like: Cav32, UFO 34, Dunc 34/35, S and S 34, Swanson 32/36. I have a soft spot for the cav32 as they are low maintenance and look and sail like a big Top Hat. I will keep you posted about what happens.......

Storm Petrel now reduced to $11,500. Would make someone a great Christmas present!

SOLD!
Sadly, Storm Petrel has been sold to a gent who is going to relocate her to Sydney Harbour in the New Year. I will encourage him to join the forum.
Storm Petrel was a joy to own and I will miss her enormously. I have never met anyone who had anything but praise for these seaworthy little yachts and I am glad that I have joined the legion of yachties who have been lucky enough to have owned one for a time.
I will let you know when I get my new boat (could be a couple of months away) and will stay active on the site as an "ex-hatter".
Thanks to everyone for your help, friendship and support over the past seven and a half years. This site makes Top Hat ownership a much richer experience.
Wishing you all a merry Christmas and a happy New Year.
Mark

Well Mark, someone has a fantastic boat for a low price, I am sure Santa could not have delivered better for them.
All the best for your future sailing adventures, be great to hear your stories.
cheers

Mark,
Many thanks for your posts over the years, doesn't time fly.
Unfortunately the price you got reflects these times when there are many fleet owners out there because of it.
Please do keep an eye on the site as your knowledge will not go away just because you are Top Hatless.
Good luck for the future and do let us all know what you get next!

Hi All,
Just finalizing the purchase of my new boat, a Phantom 32. I am missing my Top Hat but looking forward to the luxury of an oven, hot and cold pressure shower, isotherm refrigerator, dodger, Bimini, etc.
Cheers,
Mark

OK, so here is my 'new' boat. We are going to change the name back to the original - "Aruba". So keep an eye out for us.
- At last I have a yacht with 6'4" of headroom
