Interestingly they are also offering this boat for overnight accomodation. I have got to go to Cairns next week, and will try to see if I can use the boat for one night. Will be a bit different to a hotel!

OK, booked for one night Wed 22nd. Will be getting there in the afternoon, so will have a good look at the boat, but of course, not possible to check the underwater hull or the sails. Will have a chat to the lady owner about the sails, osmosis, age of rigging etc. IMHO a 4hp is not big enough for offshore work, but I know it is the cut-off size in Queensland for registration costs, and quite a lot of owners go that way on smaller boats.
Any owners out there with 4 hp motors like to comment?

I saw that boat advertised a few weeks ago and I think they were asking way more than that. Big price drop. Could be good value for the buyer.

Hi Guys ,
This Mk2 represents what a great opportunity it is for prospective Top Hat owners to buy in this current market , I have seen this unit Online with its nice interior , and feel that THs such as this , deserve to be considered more favorably .
Unfortunately , with the advent of Personal Computers etc , we are living a more reclusive lifestyle , I have been guilty of this to a degree over the last decade , though with my newly gained Mk1 , the magic is in having my young family enjoying Sydney's waterways , for this reason , the opportunity to buy a beautifully designed sailboat ( TH1-3 ) is priceless !!!

I motored down from pittwater with a 5hp and was surprised at how the boat went. I took an 8 hp and a 5 hp, naturally the 8 had just been serviced by a mechanic and didnt work
I scrubbed the boat before the trip so it was fairly clean... may be a different story if you have any growth on the boat.
If its a newish 2 stroke 4 you might be ok. A friend of mine just bought a brand new 5 hp tohatsu for $1300 so you may be able to trade up.

Yes, it is that one. For the $8k you dont get the wind generator or the dinghy. Although, if you have a fridge, you need some heavy duty charging device. Will have a good look next week. Why do these boats have to be so far far away....
