All quiet at Refuge Bay

Sailed down to Refuge Bay today expecting to find the usual Christmas multitudes. I was surprised to find about half of the moorings empty. I suppose the weather has not been that great but I still expected to find a lot more boats. Perhaps the GFC to still having an effect? Has anyone else noticed a reduction in the Christmas boating traffic?

Plenty of traffic on syd harbour today; had a great sail from gladesville to manly and back, a bit over powered at times but chugged along at a steady 5+ knts the whole way

We were also a little overpowered yesterday. Storm Petrel was 'on her ear' at times and the GPS was flashing 6.5-7.5 knots on the broad reach home. I solved the problem of taking water into the cockpit when travelling above the hull speed by fitted a bung to the lowest self-draining hole to the outboard well and drilling a few more 11/2 inch holes a bit higher in case she is ever pooped. Just need to remember to remove the bung after each sail to prevent ending up with a couple of inches of water in the cockpit if it rains.

Happy New Year Top Hatters!!!
