Vintage Yacht Regatta - Sydney Harbour Race Series

Our Compass Yacht Group has been approached by Royal Prince Edward Yacht Club to participate in their Vintage Yacht Regatta in March/April 2012. The idea is to get strong classes like Compass, Clansman, J24, Folkboat and Hood 23s togetherfor quite a big series.

It will probably be consecutive weekends of the 25th March or 1st April next year and consist of 2/3 short races on the first weekend and a passage race on the second weekend.

The first short races would be seperate starts for each class, but the following Sunday passage race would probably be all in together. That should be a blast with thirty plus, boats. The C28s and c29s will probably be combined into one division.

The Clansmen also hold an annual trophy race on Pittwater on 7th January followed by a raftup and have issued an open invitation to Compasses,Hoods and Folkboats to join in.

Entry fee is expected to be about $100 per boat per day,and is dependent on the number of total entries from all the classes. This entry fee does not include trophies, which will need to be supplied by the various class associations.

Boats entering will require normal racing insurance...ie $10M, Third Party Insurance, AYF Category 7 certification. (Most boats would probably qualify fo Cat 7 except for an upgrade of the medical kit on board).

The Compass Contact for the Vintage Regatta is Doug Cameron on 0418262323 or better still on the CYG Forum

An initial meeting has been called for Sunday 27th November at Manly Yacht Club starting at 3.00pm with an informal get together of members of each of our associations, and other like minded sailors and their yachts. The initial plan is to spend, maybe 20 -30 minutes to bring everyone up to date on plans for our annual Clansman Pittwater get together and follow this by an early barbecue dinner at around 5.30 and finish up at 7.00pm.

This will be an ideal opportunity for each of the associations to talk briefly about their boats and Association, so building on the initiatives that have already started
