Parsely Bay Top Hats

Hi everyone.

I added my boat to the large number of Top Hats at Parsley Bay at Brooklyn today (See attachment). I hope it is not always as rough as it was today! The tide was on its way out while a south easterly was blowing. If you see me there, please stop and say hello :-)

Cheers,

Bruce

Hello Bruce,

How long did it take you to get your mooring there?
i.e. how long was the waiting list?

I am thinking of moving to Parsley Bay.

Diana! Move to Careel Bay if you're moving anywhere! It took us about 9 months to get a mooring, but I reckon if you pushed, you would get one sooner.

The Careel Bay Marina has all the services of an old school marina, and they have a tender service that you can pay for on the day if you want to use it, or an easy launch from the sandy beach. Parking is also easy. It's 25 minutes from Dee Why where we live and about a two hour sail under the right conditions to Parsley Bay, less for getting outside the heads.

Granted, there aren't as many Top Hats in Careel, but it's closer to Curly.....

No offense to those in Parsley.... It was my second choice actually.

Thanks Michael,

BUT!!!

I live in Glenorie.

I currently have the mooring at Gladesville and the other in Mooney Mooney Creek.
And I would like to minimise the time it takes me to get on the water rather than increase it.

Hi Bruce, Welcome to Parsley. I will say hi when I see you out there.

Regards, John (mark 3 with the green stripe, called Night Cap, but no name on boat at present).

Hi Diana.

I have been on a waiting list since May, but decided to move to a commercial mooring owned by Hawksbury River Marina, while I sit out the rest of the waiting time. I was already on a commercial mooring before and had to have some repair work done at Fenwicks Marina in Brooklyn, so it made sense to stay there and wait after it was done.

Maritime NSW have told me the average wait is 6-8 months, so hopefully not long to go. Parsely Bay makes perfect sense for Glenorie. I am in Baulkham Hills. It is taking me about 40 mins to get there.

Thanks John, will look out for you.

Bruce

Now that makes sense, if you are on one of the commercial moorings (on the outskirts, I assume) it will be rough. Where we are moored (closer to the 'beach' and closer to the land) it is much better. Apparently aerial views show the rough areas. Something to bear in mind when you are allocated a mooring. When we got ours, we had some choice (don't know how often this applies). John

P.S. I am going to check out google maps/earth.

No I will be looking for a Maritime mooring.

Used to have a great one near the beach.

BUT my ex husband returned it to Maritime when the 'marital' boat was sold as part of the split.
Without asking me even though he knew I was buying another boat.

I think that is grounds for justifiable homicide!!!!!!!
