Hellos...

Everyone must be working too hard or something?! It has been very quiet on here for a couple of weeks.

Maybe we need to start a controversal thread on Religion and Politics to get a lively conversation? (Maybe not)

On another note has anyone played this before...

http://www.virtualskipper-game.com/en/

There is a free download and you can join in for online games... I have done it once before... takes a bit of learning.

Was lucky enough to join Peter onboard Marinka on the weekend for a lap of the island and bay... perfect day, great boat and company...

Whats happening out there?

Have had both - furlers are much easier shorthanded until the rope works its way off the drum and you can't furl the sail....learned the hard way to keep some tension on the line when sailing.

Cheers

Furler!! Gets my vote everytime... as a cruiser.

Current furler has never jammed, overrun or misbehaved... absolute gold. Would not own a boat without one...

Yep, continuous line with a bit of shock cord to maintain a little tension and the living is easy. Vote one Furler!

Yes, I have been working too bloody hard, but will take Storm Petrel out on Saturday to see off the fleet for the Lord Howe race (a couple of old friends will be sailing on last year's winner, the Maris). If anyone is looking for something to do Saturday, the race leaves Broken Bay at 1pm. I might see you out there. Cheers, Mark

I agree Furlers are the way to go. I got rid of the hanks a long time ago. I use the furler like a holland blind its great. You don't have to go up to the pointy wet end.
Hanks are good to keep your keys on your belt if you're so inclined.
By the way, Bear has been itching to get a hot topic going for some time. I think this is it.
Yerrs Ive been busy, retirement is SOOO hard. Got the laser racing, consistently coming last EVERY week.
Now racing Remote controlled yachts at Lake Mac yacht club on thursday nights, consistently coming last. Lots of fun. Learning to windsurf of an afternoon with my son on Bellmont bay. Oh Felicite, yes she's in there somewhere too. Must get down and clean the prop too.
Greg.

Change of plan! Storm Petrel will be staying on her mooring on Saturday and I will be going out on Wynstay an old Alan Payne designed 28ft wooded sloop. Thought it would be more appropriate to wave off the Maris (a Payne designed Tasman Seabird) from another wooden yacht. Will keep a look out for any Tops Hats.

Furlers! Of course, even better will be when I take delivery of my new lazy bag in a couple of weeks time.

Beats a boom cover.....

Inboard versus outboard? Any takers?

We have done the inboard/outboard thing. How about - What is the perfect size for a pocket cruising yacht? Or is a Top Hat too small to cruise in comfort? I must admit to being tempted by the occasional Defiance 30, Swanson 32 or S & S 34 that sails past me. What is your take on this one Bear??
