Can anyone please provide the specified sizes of a Top Hat's sails? I want to get a storm jib and would like to know a specified or recommended size. I also plan to put cringles in the mainsail for a third reef.
My Top Hat is a Mark III, built 1986 by Form-It, and sails on Lake Macquarie and the NSW coast. I have a Tohatsu 8 hp outboard with the longest shaft I could get, which is fine.
Ideas for self-steering (wind, not electric) would also be welcome. Does anyone know of a design which a home handyman could construct?

Ralph

Hi Ralph,

The original sail plan as laid down by Illingworth calls for a storm jib
with a luff of 16' 6", Leech of
11' 6" and a foot of 8'.

Hope this helps.
