Top Hat Survey 2025.

Introduction:
We are very close to completing the History of our Top Hat yachts, but just how many Top Hats are out there in
Australia?

We know about 6 timber Mark 0 Top Hats were built in England and Europe.
We know about 16-18 timber laminated Mark 0 Top Hats were built by Rob Legg in Melbourne.
We know there are some amateur timber Mark 0 Top Hats built in Australia, including one in New Zealand.
We know of one Australian amateur built fiberglass Top Hat, something like a Mark 2.
We know Fiberglass Yachts (Sales), Baker, built 59 Mark 1’s.
We know Formit Fiberglass Industries built 6 Mark 1’s.

But we do not know how many Mark 2’s or Mark 3’s were built by Formit Fiberglass Industries.

We know that Formit Fiberglass Industries built four 27’ Top Hats.

We do not know how many Top Hats have been wrecked or demolished.

So, just how many Top Hats are out there?

The Top Hat Survey:

We are asking owners to register their Top Hats. [One per form]
Those Top Hats that you know have been wrecked or demolished should be registered with what details you know.
And we will ask you to register any other Top Hats in your anchorage, marina or wherever you roam.
This will pick up the mooring minders, absent owners etc.

We will ask you to supply two photos of each Top Hat registered

Below you will find two PDF's with instructions on what we need and a form to fill in, save and send to the Survey email.
