Merry Christmas and a request

Merry Christmas and a request

Postby KJD13 » Sat Dec 24, 2022 9:28 am

Hi, wishing all "Toppies" a merry Christmas and happy sailing!
I have one little request - can anyone please advise how their external anode (bolted through the hull) is earthed to their engine? I have unfortunately, had my earthing wire snap of and I cannot see where it was attached. I presume that it was attached to the engine mount, but I would like to be sure before I reaffix it.
Thanks,
Kevin

Kevin,
My earth is attached to the mount on the engine for the engine mounts.

You definitely do not want to mess about with the bolts for the actual engine mounts, but the bracket on the engine should be OK.

So to earth your electrics one battery lead goes from your anode bolt to your engine block thence to your switchboard earth.

Another battery leads goes from your anode bolt to a woven battery lead that is spring/rubber loaded around your prop shaft to protect your prop, see photo.

And that should do it. Happy New Year!

The photo is not my Seaka but I'll post a couple in the next few days.
Phillip.

Thanks Phillip, I do not ever recall seeing a battery lead wrapped around my prop shaft. I would welcome seeing photos of Seeka.
Cheers,
