Hello Mad Hatters,

Today I bought a Top Hat Mk I'll, REB, in Avalon.

I think her previous owner had her since new but she has had some hard times of late. Her boom has been damaged and is missing a section where she attaches to the mast.

Does anyone know an approximate coat to replace?

She needs new rigging, I plan to do the running but I'll need a professional for the standing rigging. Is the boom a job for a rigger or a ship wright? Has anyone done this before, any idea of cost?

Hi Andrew, welcome to the TH family. Can't help with your broken boom but there was a recent thread on the Top Hat facebook page that discussed replacement and cost of standing rigging. It may help you.

Try Phil at Sheerline spars in Brookvale.
They made the original ones for Mk II and MK III.
I bought a new gooseneck from them a few years ago.

How long is the boom?
I have a spare one from another boat that is a fraction under 2.8m. No gooseneck fitting, but it is free!

From the sail plan it is 3003 mm including the gooseneck, so it might be a tad small?
