Noticed water on the floor after I beached my beauty. Thought it was from rain.
Scraped the bottom, put her back on the mooring & found water under the sink! I'd left the cock open when I beached it! Luckily the drain was oyster clogged or she would've filled on the incoming tide. Damned lucky.
For the record, hull scrapings are collected on a tarp & go in my compost bin. Yacht is not antifouled.

Wow, that was lucky, Woodsy. Scary thinking about what might have happened.

And don't you boil up the hull scrapings and make barnacle soup?

Yacht not anti-fouled? WOW -
Why?
Boat bag?
How often do you have to careen her?
Do the barnacles dig into the gel coat?
Where do you moor?

Phillip....I'm not pretty.

Ianb.... I never liked the idea of poison in my bay....from me. I was going to make a boat bag. Never happened. Longest time between cleans was 4 months, lots of growth but barnacles scaped off ok. If I careen it every month, it's a half hour maximum scrape each side. Moored at the mouth of Elvina bay in Pittwater for past 5 years.

Troppo. It made me stew!
