Background of "Kia kaha" formerly "silkie"

I got a hold of the an owner from a while back who bought my mark 1 from the 1st owners. The first owners set the boat up for sailing with a double spreader rig, and for real sailing. They did many trips up to the whits and the reef. I wanted to find out the history and age of the rig as I'm setting the boat up for cruising. Was good to hear that all the swages and turnbuckles, deck screws were replaced only 3 years ago. All the stays are 6.5 maybe 7mm and are only about 5 years old as are the sails. The boats over rigged. My back stays are only 5 mm and in need of changing so I'll be upping their diameter in the coming weeks.
The guy I bought the boat off new nothing about it and basically got a hand to sail it from Pittwater to Syd where he plonked it on someone else's mooring(put the boat in their name and he didn't even know them) and lived on the boat for 6 months in rose bay. He never used it at all.
I really love this boat and I'll post some pictures soon. Vive just done the decks with white kiwi grip and have made some great mods inside.
I love to cook and didn't have enough space so I made a nice fold up table level th the sink. I've now got a lot of room to prepare food and this table can be stowed. The leg is foldable on hinges. Only 1 leg
With the boat came a largish(1100mm by 800mm maybe) piece of timber with a chess board on it. This is used at th base of the main cabin berth. It's still used as the base of the main cabin berth except I've put 2 part hinges on this board. 1 male part is on the back of the settee in the main cabin and another female section of hinges is on my stern seat in cockpit. The hinges don't obstruct on stuck into your back or bum when using the seats normally,.You take the bed base and slide the female hinges into the male hinges in cabin when I want to do computer work or have dinner.,I was going to make a leg or legs for the board, but I've got a rope and it works really well and doesn't obstruct your legs.camfoldable leg on this board would have complicated matters in regards to stowability when it's the bed base. 1 person can sit either side in cabin. I like to eat at a table . When done put it back at the bed base. If you want to eat outside , you do the same outside. These hinges are like trailer hinges- the ones that come apart in 2. I got them from Bunnings. I'm really happy with this mod as a TH is small and this board has 3 practical uses and is set up In seconds. Makes a huge difference to overall cruising comfort. It cost me next to nothing. Oh and the chess bard table has clear non skid tacked on so if you want , you can play chess still and your drink won't slide off :D photos coming!!
