Fiona and myself have purchased a boat. We would like to thank those for their information when buying a boat. We are now in Brisbane. Fiona has a new job and flew down and I drove the car with all the gear.
On leaving Townsville I had a look at Wildfire. It is the same and without engaging in negotiation it was down to $6K before leaving. Still too much.
The next boat I looked at was not much better.
On arriving in Brisbane we had a call from a very nice couple with a wealth of knowledge and a project boat for sale. It is an Alan Buchanan 28ft timber sloop project which due to time constraints was not been able to be finished. It needs a bit of work but is very sound and a very good looking boat. It was originally registered in South Africa as " Clipper". The craft has a lot of history having sailed through the Panama and Seuz canals twice.
The boat is going to have the bottom cleaned tomorrow, moored on the Brisbane river over the next few months and then onto the next adventure.
Once again thank you all again and will see you around.

Have been unable to paste a photo of Clipper into the forum.

Well done you two.

Here's hoping you get a lot of joy and some adventuring done in "Clipper"

Just because you don't have a Top Hat doesn't mean you can't drop back in some time and share your stories.

Hi Kevin & Fiona, all the best with your new boat. Hehe, I reckon all boats are 'project boats', just some are a bigger project than others. Hope you have lots of fun.

[Doesn't look like you got the PM I sent you.]
