After moving to Avoca Beach I left Swift moored in Tarban Creek. She was intended to be my budget waterside residence in Sydney but due to travel and involvement with other things it has not really worked out like that and Swift has been somewhat neglected. Therefore yesterday I sailed up the coast to a new mooring at Gosford. Going over the bar at Little Box Head was fairly relaxed due to having been through the channel once before on Storm Petrel. I see that Mark now has a new boat but still looks at this site so thanks kindly for a great sail on that day which I can’t believe was more than a year ago!
Up the Channel from the Rip Bridge is interesting, narrow and amazingly shallow in some places. I never used to worry about engine failure because I knew I could always sail home but the thought of engine problems in the narrow confines of Brisbane Waters makes me somewhat nervous. I have been spoilt by the deep waters and slow running tides of Sydney Harbour but I intend to get acclimatised to the new locality.
Cheers Keith
