Insurance question.

Insurance question.

Postby percyverhance » Tue Jul 22, 2014 4:39 pm

I am trying to organise insurance for our Top Hat.Have checked with Club Marine and a couple of others and they all requested an out of water survey.Just looking for any ideas that might save me the cost of taking the boat out of the water just to get the insurance.Thanks.Dave

Dave,

Try the NRMA, I only needed an in-water survey.

Dave,

It might be worth finding out from Tom who he had the boat insured with, and the date of his last survey. If you use the same company they might not require another survey.

You need to Call Greg Fullerton @ Anchor Marine on 02 9959442. They are underwritten by QBE and DO NOT Require a Survey for insurance, for vessels under $20000. The Premium for Malacor a Tophat 27 was $497.59 with a $1000 excess. I shopped around and found it was the best price and didn't have to spend $$$ on a survey.

Just spent an hour on the phone and pretty much if your boat is on a swing mooring and older than 20 years you will have to pull the boat out and get a full survey.I rang Racv,Anchorage Marine,Trident,Pantaenalis and NRMA and they all requsted an out of water survey.Looks like its back to the drawing board.....

Try Andrew Johnston, Professional Insurance Brokers, Monbulk, Vic. 03 97566399

Didn't need a survey, some years ago now though.
