COOKTOWN MRK 0

Postby bornfreee » Sat Apr 12, 2014 7:45 am

When i was up in Cooktown last year i rowed past a Mrk 0 top hat heaverly laid down with all the cruising gear of a yacht thats done lots of miles.
Having a few cruising friends living up there i was chatting to them RE there preperations for the cyclone, seems the only yacht left in the open river is this neglected tophat i just hope she has manageged to survive.

Bill,

Saw a TV news this morning which showed only one yacht at Cooktown, I wonder if that was her?

I also saw a report of someone being washed off a yacht at it's mooring up there; he swam to shore and was fine. Only had brief shot of the yacht but it looked like a Top Hat or Compass.

Hey guys the tophsts name for Phillips record is Johno she survived with minor damage most yachts went up to four mile creek on the high tide.
I meet that old fella who ended up in the water he was very lucky to survive both from drowning and being eaten he looks like his yacht sunk

if you look closely you can see the slot which enables the outboard to be tilted up through the transom. It's jus behind the vane gear on the right
