Hi guys,
When I bought my Top Hat Mk2 earlier this year, I found these two boards with stainless fold - out legs.
They were hidden away so I didn't get a chance to ask the previous owner what they are for.
Can anyone help me? They look like a seat that you attach in the cockpit aft area, but I cant see anywhere where the legs would fit/slide into??

The angle on the supports is also a puzzle. I was thinking lee-boards on the bunks, but the clips would poke you in the side. Looks too narrow to be a seat. Maybe shelves for drinks in the cockpit? Another idea : used in conjunction with some pipes to prop the boat horizontal when drying out?

Yes lanb, its a puzzle alright, the angle on the supports has made it even more difficult to work out. I think I'll see if I can find the previous owners details and ask him... I'll keep the post updated if I find out.

They look like the seat extensions that were on Peppercorn.

Look at the seats in the cockpit.
There are places for the stainless steel tubes to slide into.
The lengths of timber make the cockpit seat wider so you can lounge back with more comfort.

Give it a whirl.

Also allows for comfy snooze outside without falling onto the cockpit floor.

You must be right, I originally checked the length between the two little brackets in the cockpit seats (and everything else I could see) and they did match the length between the legs of the seats.
I always thought they were there to tie up the tiller and thought it must be a quirky coincidence since I've never seen such seat extensions..
I guess David used to 'lounge around' in the cockpit a lot .

Funny you should mention Double Bay.......
I was on board a friends boat and mooring for the long weekend in Double Bay andwill probably have Sea Lady there for Christmas and New Year.
We are swapping moorings.
