"Not Just a Yacht - Australia's Most Popular Cruising Yacht"

Good evening all,

I have posted a copy of an add, I believe was issued in 1983 for that wonderful boat of ours the Top Hat. The statement could be considered as true today as it was 25 years ago. I hope you enjoy it. It appears that today they are selling at a price more than what they could be purchased for fully fitted out new.

A couple of questions, I cannot seem to get water from the water tank up to the water pumps. Water appears to be coming out of the tank in the bilge when I pull the hose out. I was wondering where the access to the tank is and whether a breather hose is needed. Would I be right in undoing the plate on the floor of the cabin to gain access to the water tank. any suggestions?

Secondly, I am considering either an asymmetrical spinnaker or a standard spinnaker. I have been advised that the correct length for the spinnaker pole is from the base of the mast, perpendicular to the fore-stay. My spinnaker pole is approximately 18 inches too short. Any suggestions as to spinnaker pole length, and the differences between a standard spinnaker and an asymmetrical spinnaker would be appreciated.

Kind regards

Afternoon Tom,

Great add, this confirms a lot that we have research lately for the new site. If you scanned that add, did you use the 'de-screen printed originals'? If not can you do it again to give us a better copy of the picture within the add. Many thanks.

In a Mk 1, access to the water tank is via a removable pane at the rear of the tank, if you have an inboard its gotta come out to get to it!

Don't know about the spinnaker, I'd want the asymmetrical one as no pole is necessary.

Hi Tom,

I saw that you were considering a spinnaker. I have been researching the "parasailor" , just google it. It's truly amazing and a real breakthrough in short handed cruising spinnakers. No ple needed and can be carried safely in 30 plus knots. Check mit out. Only drawback is expense.

Cheers
