Hi all,

I have just read the commentrary on stripping antifoul. My question is how much antifoul should I buy for a Top Hat? Another owner I met suggested 4 litres is enough. Any suggestions? I am slipping in late October so I have some time to get my head around this... but its my first attempt... advice welcome.

regards, Doug

hi Doug-
i antifouled joylee in nov last year and used 4 litres of primercon primer and just under 4 litres of interspeed antifoul to do a complete strip and recoat so one 4l can should do the trick- just a tip with buying the antifoul, check with the guy who runs the slip where you haul out as quite often they buy antifoul in bulk and are happy to sell on some at a huge saving to the normal shop price, also you pay for what you use and dont get left with half empty cans! hope this helps

Doug,

4 lt is the go. Will do two coats, but also buy a 1 lt tin of thinners so that if the paint thickens or you need to stretch it for the last bit, you can add thinners to make it.

Remember to check your annode if you have an inboard motor.
