Hi all,

Our Mark III does not have a bilge pump... and I considering fitting one.

Before I drill a hole and install a fitting through the stern, am I missing an outlet or are these not standard? (It is the non inboard model.)

Any advice greatly appreciated.

Cheers

Karl

Hi Karl, I fitted a bilge pump about last year. Had to drill hole in stern. Moe interesting problem was mounting the pump in the bilge. Got some advice through this site. Best mount the pump on a steel/al bar and push down in the bilge.

Hi Karl,
I took a similar approach as Denis and have attached a pic of what I did. I attached the switch and pump to a perspex board and mounted it on a gal pipe. At the top of the pipe I made an adjustable bracket so I could clamp the post to a potruding part of the cabin sole in the engine well. I fed the outlet to a discharge hole in the motor well where my manual bilge outlet is also mounted via the inside of the portside cockpit locker. My switch panel bilge switch also has wiring to mount a secondary bilge higher up on my pole in the bilge in the event of a primary bilge failure. I intend to mount the secondary bilge switch on a sliding arm on the pole at a later date. The main thing is having a system where you can remove the bilge pump with relative ease for maintenance.

Karl,
Here are a couple of photos on how I fitted my new bilge pumps.
I have a 12 volt and a manual with a strum box in the bilge with a non
return valve.
The hoses both go through a 3 way valve (the 12 volt actually pumps through the manual pump) which allows me to choose which to use. I reckon if I ever need both
then its really a lost cause.
