Hi Gramps Downloaded a few pictures of Swansons for your enjoyment (sounds a bit dirty ) 1..27 still a pretty little yacht after all these years 2..28 I like these ,big volume little yachts and cost about the same as a Top Hat to maintain . 3..Camille , Swanson 's Admiral Cup challenger still with her timber stick
Hi Bear , Nearly bought a Swanson 28 just before I got my Tophat ,she was beautiful couldn't believe the room you had below .The deal fell through sad but then again I would have experienced the Tophat if I had the Swanson
Hi Bear, You have a good collection of photos! I still like that Swanson 27 though, I am partial to flush deck boats and my other favourite is the East Coast 31 half tonner which gave you a lot of boat for its length. Sean
I had a mate who bought a Swanson 27 a few years back for a song and sailed it back from Quennsland to Sydney non stop. He loved it and thought he had a real bargain until he put it up on the slips and found it was riddled with very advanced osmo. He subsequently offloaded it for an equally silly price and now has a timber yacht. Swansons are great boats but the build quality and later modifications on some (probably back yard jobs) can be problematic.
Hi guys Re Swansons there were more good built than bad ! The photo Of Alley Oops and the Swanson 32 "Jia " behind was my fathers It was one we built 35 years ago and fitted the 36 coachouse and cockpit in it . Spoke to the 3rd owner about her and was told she has not one bubble in her.
Cheers Bear
