WOW that's some lump of concrete!

Shaun and I are in Sydney this weekend.

Just a quick visit , me to see relatives and Whitworths for the last of Seaka's bits and pieces.

Shaun to check out a Top Hat that's going to be sailed by him to the Gold Coast very soon.

If Shaun is heading for the Gold Coast he had better come to the Sunshine Coast and stay for a day or so with us and go for a sail on the R34. Can't believe prices for boats - a {modified 28foot] Tahiti ketch that needed some work sold for a dollar here [yes I am for real!!!] and then shortly after for 4 Grand to a young couple who are now living on this nice boat. Cheers Phil and keep up the good work. Peter

Shaun, I am guessing right, and is the one you are going to sail up to the Gold Coast the Mk3 shallow draft boat?

Knowing my mooring needed servicing, I put the yacht on the beach before going on holidays.
On return, 'Old mans back', stopped me diving. So yesterday I finally made the necessary replacements.
OOOOHHHH. Replaced the 2 metres of galv. chain from the rope to the heavy chain on the bottom. I had replaced it 2 years ago, I think.
Metal was down to matchstick thick. The shackle pin was moving around freely, only held in place by the stainless steel tie at the end. 1 1/2 hours in the water. Shaking hands made it difficult to line up the shackle pin in the hole at the end of the dive! I don't think the yacht would have still been here had I left it on the mooring in my absence.
A mooring service would NOT have been able to lift the block. The chain would have snapped. Then a diver would have had to go searching for the block in the churned up mud. Time consuming & costly for us cheap yachties.

Next year I'll do it in summer.

Busy weekend, commissioned a new to me dinghy (I think Shaun is soon to have company with the Order of the tipping dinghy)
Restocked the carbonated drink locker :D
Changed 2 x fuel filters and refuelled
1 x oil filter and oil
Changed gearcase fluid
Cleaned bilge
And today went sailing (drifting with the tide mainly into the bay then sailed home)

Dusty,

I reckon your TH, sail number 937, and my SEAKA, sail number 977,
have raced each other at some stage at the Royal Prince Alfred Yacht Club!

Suggestion, I noticed that you have your oil change gear in an open tub,
better to get one of those seal-able Kiwi plastic containers from Woolworths
and that will save you some heart ache over spilt oil!

Today i started to fabricate a storage solution for the gps and those other things that are handy to reach inside and grab without having to go below.Manly sunnies and stubbie coolers.
The curved backing will be 3 pieces of 3mm ply laid up.I only got to laminate 2 sheets up as the weather in Melb is still fairly cool and didnt want to risk the glue not going off. Will post a few more dodgey pics as it comes together

Another wet day in Sydney.
Put my toppy back on the mooring after a week on the sand flats.
I leave the front hatch cover ajar to let the air circulate , decrease mould growth is the idea.
Of course when the boats on an angle, rain gets in!
So today was bucket out the rain water, dry the bedding, mattresses, clothing......& attempt to salvage the smart phone I left where it eventually got submerged!!

Enjoyed the sunshine on Sunday after all that rain.
Good company, grilled lobster and prawns with lemon butter, fresh bread and salad for lunch.

Stayed on board at the mooring overnight solo.
The phosphorescence was spectacular and enjoyed with a glass of red.

I must have spent hours flicking the painter to watch the water shine.

Did not want to come home on Monday morning.
