Head sail

Thanks for contributing this Mark, that is a very useful addition to my collection, but sail design has changed since that plan was drawn and for single handing I find the best arrangement is a No. 3 with the same overlap but the luff should be full hoist to maximise the drive from the leading edge.

I have one of these on hanks and it is both effective and manageable. I am going to adapt it for the furler.

Yes, I use a No2 (20% overlap) with full hoist luff on my furler and have found it the most versatile.

Thanks, Mark - I'll compare with what I have, which seems to be a #3 on furler full hoist like the others. Sometimes wish for a bit of overlap - it was hard to 'ghost' on Saturday in less than 5kn of breeze. But then today was 44kn at Fawkner Beacon steady and glad I wasn't out!
All the best

Hi Mark,

Just to set the record straight, my full hoist headsail is also a number 2 with the overlap - not a No. 3 as I first said. After I had a second look at the plan I realised that I had counted the racing genoa as a number 1.
Getting old!
