you guys might be able to help me;
I was qouted $560 for a 10m sock from the sailmaker ( who orders it in made up from Sydney) and I see them online for $381 ( rolly Tasker ) So what am I looking for? is one much the same as another? or is this guy into me.

Hi Rob,

All I can tell you is that, from what I have been told, Rolly Tasker get their sails made up overseas (I think in Thailand) and they tend to be much cheaper. I assume that this also goes for the snuffer/ sock/ condom/ squeezer!!! For a sail I would rather use a local sailmaker, but for a snuffer, i am not sure that it will be too different. I would look at the difference in design before choosing.

I do not use a snuffer myself but go for the old fashioned method of having crew madly running around the boat whilst I try not to kill any of them by keeping a steady helm!!!

Regards ... Maggsy (ex forward hand, now skipper)

Had a great race today with pretty nifty 15-20 knot South Easterlies. Sea Monkey was having a decent battle with a Triton 24, and was about 500 meters ahead when they T-boned a skiff ... Oops. We finished in 3 hours 6 mins which was inside the 3.5 hour cut-off. We sailed with 5 crew and started off with a reef, which came out on the first downwind run. We had a no.3 headsail and didn't use the spinnaker.

So much fun, looking forward to the next race already.
