Hi Everyone

With all the transport you've done can someone advise how much a Tophat weighs? I need to organise a crane truck soon to shift mine and need to advise what it weighs.

Thanks in Advance

Lloyd,

I answered these questions under "Hi from Rockhampton " but I'm afraid that's not going to help you as you do not have a Top Hat.

Your yacht is a Southerly 23, designed by Don Lees who also designed the Compass 28 (originally called the Northerly 28; others in the range were the Westerly 27 and Easterly 30) and 29. A lovely little boat, built by Compass Yachts and also in NZ. The Southerly hull was given an extra few inches of freeboard and sold as the Pacific 707 a few years later.

For those interested I also gave some idea of a Top Hats weight as about 3,000 kg, considering fuel/water/gear onboard.

Hi Everyone

Would any of you know how much a Tophat weighs? I need to shift one and need to ensure a crane truck can lift it.

Cheers

I agree with Phillip. Top Hats weigh more than a Southerly 23.

Quote to transport a 5 tonne, 29ft H28 from Dampier WA to Sydney, circa $19k. It is a long way! Looks like that boat is going to be a bargain for some Iron ore miner in the West. Aquatic Boat Transport in Brisbane provided the quote.

You could sail her back. H28s are very seaworthy boats.
