Hi All,

Does anyone know how to remove a 25 litre yamaha fuel tank from the cockpit locker on a mkIII. It seems to be physically too big to fit throught the locker opening. (The other question is how did it get there in the first place?)

Andrew

Hi Andrew,
I think you will find that the tank got there through the cabin. In my Mark 3 there was no partition between the cabin and the locker so you could drag the fuel tank off the shelf and through what was the port side quarterberth into the cabin. I installed a partition to close off the locker from the cabin but always thought that I'd have to remove it to get the tank out. I never tried to juggle the tank out through the locker so I don't know whether it is possible.

Hello Andrew,
I have a mark 2. I can fit a Yamaha fuel tank in and out of the cockpit locker by turning it side on to the locker opening. It is a tight fit. I believe that the tank is the current shape and dimensions. About 25 litres.

Perhaps some changes were made to the cockpit design for the mark 3.

I don`t think that the boat was built around the tank but strange things happen around boats!!!

Good luck with it.

Thanks for your replies.

I have measured all the dimenisons and it is not possible for the fuel tank to get through the locker opening.

It does look like the fuel tank has been inadvertently 'stuck' in the port locker, when the same side quarter berth was blocked up.

Can't imagine why you would do it, but as John said 'strange things happen around boats'
