Stern hung rudder

Stern hung rudder

Hi all,
I've been lurking on the site for a while and it's a great wealth of information. Thanks,
Just wondering if any of you have sailed on a Top Hat with a rudder hung off the stern? I'd be very interested on your thoughts and/or observations?
Cheers,
Chris B

Chris,
Are you talking about the Mk2 on Gumtree?

There was discussion about the stern hung rudder some time ago, anybody remember when?

I think it had something to do with the engine set-up or racing.

Yes Phillip...I'm curious to see if anyone has sailed on one like this?

I spoke to a guy who converted his to stern hung, it was done in an attempt to reduce yawing downwind, especially on spinnaker runs. His remarked that it did improve the handling but was not worth the effort of the modification (which was good)

Phil I'm sure I saw that boat up the Clarence on a mooring in Griffith
