Anchors :
Looking for some feedback on what type of anchors people are using on their tophats. CQR, Danforth etc also what type of warp and length, i.e all chain, chain & rope.

Outboards:
I have a 15hp Mariner at present and am looking at buying a 4 stroke. I would like to hear from other top hat owners as to what brand & size is the most popular. The part of Qld that i sail in can have 4 - 5 knt flowing tides in places and when you have a wind against tide situation even the 15 hp struggles. I have been looking at an 18hp Tohatsu with charging unit, does any one have one of these they could comment on.
I read an earlier post on outboards where someone had a system for raising the outboard out of the well, would appreciate any feed back along the same lines.

All chain is far too heavy. The best guide line is in the AYF blue rule
book which lists recommended lengths of rope and chain, size of both by type
of material. The type of bottom is relevant, but I have two main anchors,
one plow and one danforth and an ancillary smaller danforth and an entire
spare anchore rope.
Better to have too much than too little. Top Hats are a heavy boat.

Hi John,

Thanks for the feedback. I tried to get in touch with you regarding some pics of your outboard raising setup, I would appreciate some pics (either posted on the forum or direct to my email). I don't have a copy of the blue book, I was looking for a more general view or I guess you could call it a real life view.
