Oh Mark ! I forgot my topping lift is wire too ! woven flax or papyrus ? no it gets caught in the mast head pulley !

I use 10mm spectra and make the jib and main halyard the same length.
You can end for end them both at the same time by stiching the ends to each other and just pulling them through.
A couple more knots worth considering.
