Does anyone have a spray hood/ dodger over their companionway? I would like to know if installed how you access your winches and mainsheet arrangement.

Regards

I have a sprayhood on my companionway. At present I have to release it forward to access winches and main sheet. However looking at other boats with this set up, they have a zippered 'window' affair that unzips and folds up leaving a gap to work winches etc.

Paul,

we have a canvas flap on Mad Hatter which covers the hatch, clipped to the coachroof above it. Tying it to the mainsheet winch cleats waterproofs the hatch when we're aboard and want ventilation, (and to give weather protection to the wooden hatch cover when away). It is tied to up to an awning frame which covers the back half of the cockpit for sun protection when sitting in the cockpit. We still need to make a spray dodger when sailing though.
