Mooring Fees

Mooring Fees

Postby transfit » Sat May 22, 2010 3:08 pm

Good afternoon,

I am looking for assistance in who do get and what should I pay to service my mooring. The reason i ask is that last time, I felt ripped off for $400.00 just to lift my mooring buoy to check that it was ok.

I am currently moored in Parsley Bay and would appreciate advice as to what morring persons operate in the area and who had got a good price.

I have a list of mooring contractors but it is very out of date.

Cheers.

Hi Tom,

I have been using Central Coast Moorings and Salvage it cost about $120 plus cost of new parts/rope if required. I do not know if they go up as far as Parsley Bay, but would not be surprised if they did. A google search will bring up their details. Might be worth a call.

Cheers,
Mark

Hi I just had Hawkesbury Maritime Service Ph 0414 961 203 02 9388 8957 service my 'new' mooring in
Mooney Mooney Creek

Total cost
Lift, clean and visually inspect $190 + GST

It was a mooring that had obviously not been servcied for quite some time. The mooring line itself was over 1 foiot thick with barnacles. Yuk. Was impossible for me to pull onto my boat.

They also replaced the rope, swivel, shackle, and plastic wear tube.

The wole thing was apparently ready to fall apart.

Total cost $394 including GST

Tom

Since the Storm in 2007 I've used "Hawkesbury Maritime Services" (HMS) (just like Diana) to service my mooring in Parsley Bay. Give Paul of (HMS) a call. By the way....as a member of HRYC, Paul some times gives a 5% discount.

I worked for a day with Paul after the 2007 Storm repairing moorings in Parsley Bay and can vouch for his workmanship.

Also his barge is only located around in Brooklyn.

It cost me $297.00 in 2009:
$180.00 - Lift, remove marine growth, adjust position & inspect mooring (not easy when you consider that I have a 1000 Kg Concrete Block & a 360 Kg Train Wheel joined together.....just to hold a Top Hat!)
$ 50.00 - Supply &install 1 x 20mm swivel
$ 40.00 - Supply & install 2 shackles
$ 27.00 - GST

I have my mooring serviced every year in June...it might even be cheaper with HMS servicing a couple of moorings in Parsley Bay on the same day :lol:

HMS will also, on completion of servicing the mooring, give a detailed report on what comprises the mooring apparatus and what work was carried out....a must have for any Insurance claim.

This is all good information, but have a care for those of us who, until this month, had to pay $240 per month for a marina swing mooring.

We've now been granted a Mooring License, so have to find a good spot in Careel, then get the tackle set up. I think $3-400 per year for inspection and $368 per year for the license is much more acceptable than the $3k plus we've paid this Financial Year so far.

So, anyone recommend a mooring contractor in Pittwater?

Michael

Before I started using HMS I used:

Pittwater Mooring Services Pty Ltd
48 Patrick Street AVALON BEACH 2107
Ph 02 99183423
Mobile: 0415412330

They are around in Pittwater and I found they did a good job also.

They charged to service my mooring:
2002 - $207.90
2003 - $212.30
2004 - $312.40
2005 - $376.20

Hope this helps

Neat Denis, thanks,

As soon as I get the OK from the BSO at Church Point I'll make the appointment.
