Windchaser has a new owner

Windchaser has a new owner. Some weeks ago actually. Peter from the Sunshine Coast bought her and happily sailed away. He managed the tricky down river leg and also the Narrows behind Curtis Island where you cross a section which is 1.5 metres above water at low tide. He slipped through the busy Gladstone area avoiding being run over by all the big ships but had a problem entering Round Hill Creek at 1770.

I don't know all the details. Peter was going to let me know the outcome but I have not heard from him. He told me he was entering the creek after waiting for the tide to have risen enough and after talking with the Round Hill Coast Guard. With a sharp northerly blowing, the first section of the channel has little protection from the swell. He was past the first set of markers and doing okay when he ran aground.

While he got himself off, he was concerned about possible damage underneath.

I was waiting for him to update me before I posted of Windchaser's new home and outcome of the 1770 incident but decided to post this half-story anyway. No doubt we will hear from him in time as he was planning to join this forum.

I have not yet got used to no boat. Probably take a while. Done some camping trips on remote beaches and realised that with the constant bad weather we have been having, I can go camping where I peg my tent down tightly but I would not have gone sailing. I am still in the habit of reading this forum so will continue to do so.
