Mast Step configuration

Mast Step configuration

Hi All,

Mark from Storm Petrel commented that my Top Hat MkIII, 'Sea Monkey', didn't have the usual 'Harbour Bridge' style mast step. (see pic below). Is this very unusual? Do all the other Top Hats have a Harbour Bridge style mast step?

Hi Maggsy,

I think most Tophats have the 'Harbour Bridge' style mast step. Your set up looks very interesting. Either a very late model Tophat or a replacement mast step I would think.

Cheers,
Mark

Hi Mark,

She is supposed to be a 1983 MarkIII, but she was custom fitted and I think she has a lot of changes from standard. I have been told that when she was built the fit-out was for circumnavigation, hence the inside being totally wood lined, with only small port holes being left behind the windows. From the outside it looks normal, but very different inside.

Regards .. Maggsy
