Port Phillip Bay Top Hatters and New Years Eve??

Postby percyverhance » Sun Nov 30, 2014 10:19 pm

Just floating an idea if any Top Hatters around the Bay are interested.I am planning to head up the Yarra river this New Years Eve with a couple of friends to watch the fireworks from the river this year.Anyone thats keen just give me a yell. Will most likely have a sail around the top of the Bay from around 3pm then head up the Yarra.Cheers.Dave

Hi Dave,

Have you checked the availability and cost of berths? I think in previous years some marinas have charged much more on New Years Eve, for example $250 for a berth which would normally be $50, and get booked up well in advance.

Hi Steve, wasnt really considering a berth.Would be happy to even stay back a bit from the Docklands area. There are a couple of sly spots to pull up or if they are unavailable might consider back up near the mouth of the Maribyrnong river.Happy to slowly move around if thats required also.

I ended up with some good footage from our sail on Melb cup day Steve.I finally have just put it on a usb stick and will give it to you when we catch up.Cheers.Dave

Could even just drop an anchor at the top of the Bay around Port Melbourne.Probably be a pretty good vantage point also.
