?Moving to Lake Macquarie?

Postby SeaLady » Fri Oct 23, 2015 2:29 pm

Hi,
I am seriously thinking of selling up in Sydney and moving.
Lake Macquarie area is a serious contender as a location along with others.

Would love to have a chat to locals about the area in general, sailing etc

Thanks

Diana

Bloody awful place to sail, don't want any of you Sid arnee siders here mate.
Seriously though Di, that is why we moved up here. I sailed around here in 2000 and moved up in 2009. Best move we've made getting out of Sydney.

Give me a pm with your number always ready for a chat.

Hey Di, Greg absolutely right ! horrible ,shallow narrow channel, sand banks not to mention the pelican eating sharks razor clams to walk on,dolphins that swim around your yacht and won't leave you alone ,dreadful ? Then your engine doesn't get any use because you can sail on and off your mooring into clear open water.Tack every hour or so You can sell your mainsail because Lake Mac cruising yachts don't use them . Drink wine and and spend the afternoon on the sand or mud and wait for the tide to lift you off! .Slipping is easy and affordable mooring license cheaper .Oh all the public jetties leading to clubs and pubs bays and little inlets . We have the sand islands ,Lake Macquaries poor man' Whitsundays No I'd stay put !

Come on up I reckon there's room for one more ? you know you will never leave !The Swansea Bridge when it opens for you is the Pearly Gates to a yachties heaven

There is a house in Blackalls Park that looks interesting.
Will be looking at it on Saturday.

I welcome any information about that part of the lake.
Moorings? Depth?

Hi Di,
Blackalls is a quiet backwater, but, it is close to Fassifern Station which is one of the main stations on the Sydney Newcastle Line.
There is a low bridge on the road to Toronto so you'd have to stay on the east side of the bridge. You can get under it with a dinghy.

Yep. The house is on the wrong side of the bridge.
When you say backwater. What do you mean?

Calm. Not many people . .. sounds good to me. What is the area like? Nice people?
