So, what's your preference? Music on board, no music?

I have a wee iPod with a small dock that can be moved about the boat or plugged in to the iPad when we anchor up for the night to watch a movie.

When we're out it's nice to have something playing, and lately it's been a mix of the soundtrack to Chocolat, or some Taj Mahal. There's also a smattering of Tom Waits playing late in the evening.

Digital music has made it so much easier to have a wider choice of music on board to suit any mood you find yourself in. Anything but Rod Stewart that is.......

We prefer the sweet sound of the wind and waves on Storm Petrel, but I have been known to turn on the radio after a day at sea to break the monoteny. Taj would be good choice.............

Rod, I can see where you're coming from, but after an hour of Baby James, I'm crying out for some Ozark Mountain Daredevils or Lynyrd Skynryd...... ;)

Leonard Cohen and Tom Waits for late at night sitting quietly on the mooring or at anchor waiting for a fish to bite..... :)

All you need is Jimmy Buffett and a Mk 1 ... happy days !

Bear

"Changes In Latitudes, Changes In Attitudes"

I took off for a weekend last month
Just to try and recall the whole year.
All of the faces and all of the places,
wonderin' where they all disappeared.
I didn't ponder the question too long;
I was hungry and went out for a bite.
Ran into a chum with a bottle of rum,
and we wound up drinkin' all night.

It's those changes in latitudes,
changes in attitudes nothing remains quite the same.
With all of our running and all of our cunning,
If we couldn't laugh, we would all go insane.

[Chorus:]
These changes in latitudes, changes in attitudes,
Nothing remains quite the same.
Through all of the islands and all of the highlands,
If we couldn't laugh we would all go insane

Reading departure signs in some big airport
Reminds me of the places I've been.
Visions of good times that brought so much pleasure
Makes me want to go back again.
If it suddenly ended tomorrow,
I could somehow adjust to the fall.
Good times and riches and son of a bitches,
I've seen more than I can recall

[Chorus]

I think about Paris when I'm high on red wine,
I wish I could jump on a plane.
And so many nights I just dream of the ocean.
God, I wish I was sailin' again.
Oh, yesterdays are over my shoulder,
So I can't look back for too long.
There's just too much to see waiting in front of me,
and I know that I just can't go wrong
with these...

[Chorus]
