Gday,
How about a get-together?
Firstly, i know im going to be busy until Oct/Nov (got twins due next month!), so just putting the idea out there if anyone would like to meet other Top Hat owners before then??
So (if not before &/or) would anyone be interested in meeting at say..Port Stephens or Lake Macquarie or..?, around Nov this year?
This would give me (& maybe others) a good goal to work towards to sort out their boats before then.
For Interstate boats it would be a big challenge, maybe they could arrange a local sailaway?
Any thoughts?
cheers
Shaun
USUAL DISCLAIMERS.. im not proposing an event organised by tophatyachts . org, simply suggesting it would be great to meet others whose use this messege forum!

I was having similar thoughts whilst bobbing around the harbour today, sounds like a good idea
I guess the first question is where do all our members reside/moor ?
Im in Sydney Harbour, where is everyone else?

Hi Shaun,
I could sail north, but how about somewhere in Broken Bay? There are a lot of tophats around this neck of the woods.
Cheers,
Mark

Hi guys - I would be keen - I based on Kogarah Bay - so either Harbour or Broken Bay would be great - Lake Macquarie possibly a bit far but with right weather and gear could be fun, if I can get enough time away from office.

Guys
I sail a MK2 and sail out of the Hawkesbury River Yacht Club at Brooklyn on the Hawkesbury River, North of Sydney.
The Club has races at least once a month and Social events. (The Commodore is a ex MK1 owner, now moved to a S&S34)
If you are sailing in the area, come along, you are more than welcome to join in. WEB site
WWW.HRYC.ASN.AUIf you are interested in a Sail away/Get together on the beautiful Hawkesbury. The use of the HRYC facilities can be arranged.

Hi there tophatters
Very keen to do a trip up the coast also. Had hoped to take my new 'girl' up to Lake Macquarrie over the weekend but this had to be postponed. I'm new to the world of Top Hats and very very impressed by them so far. Thanks also to this website which is a great tool full of info for all.
Curly Tops (MkII) is moored up at Pittwater and she's out on the water most weekends and often up the Hawkesbury. I think the idea of a few winter Sunday sails could be fun if there are others keen? And indeed beyond Pittwater for those who are keen.
As for a coastal in November - yes why not!
Cheers
Curly

Hi
If the sailaway heads Lake Macquarie way I can help organise things this end. I work at the yacht club and run the slipway. I have just purchased a Top Hat in November and have just had a lovely Easter on the lake although not much wind.

Hi All,
Congrats to Shaun and Louise who had twins (Max and Lily) last friday.
Firstly, Dan is away overseas this week but when he gets back I'll ask him to prepare a register page that only shows your boats name, your first name and your mooring location (which you can define as say Sydney or Rose Bay for example). It will be available to registered members (51) only, you will have to sign in.
Once this is set up it should be very obvious where the main group of members are moored. We have 4 Top Hats here at Laurieton and at least 1 more at Port Macquarie.
I'm up for a cruise etc in late November (have university exams to complete early in November).

Hi Top hater's,
Thought id bump this thread up to the top again for discussion.
Seems like some good interest in having a sailaway!
So whats are peoples thoughts now its getting warmer & we are thinking more about sailing?
Not actually sure if i'll be able to attend anything myself, depends how my wife thinks she can handle the twins when we get closer to the time.
So we have maybe late Nov..early Dec?
Port Stephans?
Lake macquarie (entrance maybe trickier)?
Broken Bay?
Sydney Harbour?
cheers

Hi all,
For a bigger turn out I think Broken Bay or Sydney harbour would be best. Broken Bay would suit me, but I could come to Sydney if the weather was OK. Shuan, I will send that Top Hat material up if a get a chance this week.
Cheers,
Mark
