Hi Guys / Gals ,

On this day 26th September , in 1983 . We won the Americas Cup with Australia 2 , a Monumental Achievement for us Humble Ozzys !! .

Just thought id gain a picture of what members were doing that morning , when our Prime Minister Bob Hawke famously stated : Any Australian Boss who sacks his workers for not turning up for work today is a Bum !!

For me : I was in Year 3 at Shalvey Primary School , and I remember that morning well , sitting in my parents loungeroom , while getting ready to walk to School . At the time I thought it was significant for our Sporting Heritage . Today , I believe it to be one our Greatest Moments in Sport .

Yeah Brad sure was a great aussie sporting victory, I'd only been in the country for pretty much five minutes, immigrating from pommie-land, but knew it was a significant event, had a wee tear in the eye....., I too was getting ready for school if I remember right, year 10. cheers

Driving my truck across a bridge into St Peters......

A really vivid memory that comes back every time I drive across that bridge!

Hi Guys ,

Something very special about that era actually , which makes the proceeding decades fail in comparison .

Well I watched here at home on TV, being an orchardist then I got to decide my hours of work!

I see yesterday we were claiming a sort of win in the cup with 7 Aussies on board Oracle. ;)

But I can tell you now that New Zealand really won having 8 Kiwi's onboard Oracle. :o

And not only that, but there were only Kiwi's onboard ETNZ!!!! :D

I was doing the last experimental work for my PhD. I went to the laser lab at the university early that day because I had just built a big Calcium ion UV laser and I was keen to see how much power I could squeeze out of the thing. I watched the end of the race on a little TV in the lab with a couple of other grad students and remember the yahoos that went up around the lab. It was a very special day!

Shaun I was in (4th yr) yr10 when I watched Neil Armstrong step onto the surface of the Moon and Brad I was in 3rdclass when John Kennedy was assassinated. History marches on.......

Cheers,
Mark
