Great day Denis, thanks for organising it. The hospitality of the HRYC is second to none and the race was a hoot - relaxed, but exciting and fun. It is actually the first time I have circumnavigated Dander Island. Thanks for shouting out to warn us about the bar on the North East side (that we would have otherwise sailed onto) even though we were in front of you at the time - you are not only a gentleman but a real sportsman!
I believe HRYC is planning another Top Hat get together for March next year. So keep your dance cards free for March girls......
Great day yesterday with 9 yachts sailing the Rhumb race....4 being Top Hat's. Here are the Top Hat Division results: 1st - Storm Petrel 2nd - Mij'a 3rd - Marie Anne 4th - Ally Opp (retired from the race to get a Coffee)
The Start looked good, with 9 yachts at anchor, a couple of motor cruises and a seaplane, all just off a secluded beach. It was good to see the Seaplane come into land, upto the beach, turn around, pilot (in his Captains uniform) get out and fall into the water, resurface to a resounding cheer from all those ashore and on their yachts....the start of a memorable day....
Winners are grinners alright, well done Storm Petrel.
Looked like a fantastic day, & picture perfect weather too. Thanks for posting the photos, including some rare photos of Mij'a that isn't way out in front during a race .
Good to see even non-tophatters keeping the tradition alive & getting in on the fun, by falling in!
